“Working on the Cambridge Science Park project has been a remarkable experience. We were thrilled to partner with SDC to leverage Building Information Modelling (BIM) for this ambitious development. Despite the absence of BIM-specific requirements, SDC's foresight to use BIM allowed us to ensure a seamless, coordinated, and conflict-free installation process. We meticulously developed 3D virtual models for all MEP services, certified equipment, and builderswork requirements, capturing every detail from access zones to maintainable points like rodding eyes. This comprehensive approach enabled us to produce accurate bills of materials, clash-detect all MEP services with the structure and architecture and create detailed 2D installation and builderswork drawings. Managing the EDMS for data exchange and progress reporting was integral to our success.”

Matt McGuire Director

“Matt and the Bimtech team have worked with the SDC team for many years completing numerous high-profile projects across the R&D, automotive and life sciences sectors. Their attention to detail, problem solving and “can do” attitude is unrivalled and has made Bimtech our Partner of choice for all self-delivered 3D modelling projects. The Bimtech team embed themselves into the overall project team ensuing a swift communication route between designer, subcontractor and manufacturer.”

Virtual Coordination

Effective coordination is critical to the BIM process. The cycle starts at the pre-design stage and continues, with the help of 3D, through detailed design during which collaboration is the key.

Laser Scanning

Accurate plans and information are essential to BIM – but there are times when limited information is available. Under these circumstances we use 3D laser scanning of an existing building or site.
